Neil Cross’s Luther starts on BBC One this week

The first episode of Neil’s much anticipated new crime drama Luther, starring Idris Elba, screens on Tuesday night (BBC One, 9pm).

From the previews:

“This is quite simply a captivating British crime drama that equals anything coming out of the US and should not be missed. *****”
TV Times

“This one is really special . . . one of the finest TV thrillers we’ve seen since the heyday of Prime Suspect. *****
Boyd Hilton, Heat

“It looks as though John Luther could be the best new TV detective since Wallander
Guardian

“Neil Cross reinvents the detective drama with a new edge. Idris Elba . . . excels as eerily intelligent sleuth DCI John Luther . . . As one of Luther’s superior officers says, ‘The man is nitroglycerine.’ But in a good way. Don’t miss this.”
Observer

‘What marks the series out from other similarly crime-laden TV fare is Elba’s exceptional performance (the interrogation scenes are handled perfectly) and Neil Cross’ starkly powerful script.’
